Mira Costa boys lacrosse defeated the Peninsula Panthers on Wednesday night with a final score of 14-9. The Mustangs were helped by key performances from senior Casey Bonner and junior Macallan Laver.
In prior years, the Panthers have been a tough team for the Mustangs to defeat. However, the Mustangs had no trouble on Wednesday, as they played well on both ends of the field and led for nearly the entire game.
“Winning this game was really important for us because we had struggled with that team in the past,” Laver said. “We got off to a great start and never looked back.”
With the win, the Mustangs improved to a record of 8-2 and improving their streak to five in a row. The next game on the schedule is an away game with rival Redondo Union.
“We need to continue playing our style of lacrosse on offense and defense,” Laver said. “The win was hype, but we need to reset and focus on the rest of the season.”
