Mira Costa Girls Beach Volleyball Team crushed both Palisades High School 2-0 with scores of 21-17, 21-12, 21-8 and Santa Monica High School with scores of 21-9, 21-9, 21-9, 21-11 on Thursday at Dockweiler Beach. Coach Eric Fonoimoana said that the team played well as a whole and there were not certain players who stood out.

During the game against The Palisades their strategies consisted of targeting the weakest player, tiring them out. They worked on serving corner to corner in the wind and switching up the lining and angle while blocking. Micheletti said that their ball control and execution of the game plan helped their performance against Santa Monica.

“I thought the game went well and we have been practicing and training in strong wind, so we were all prepared for the conditions,” Senior Maddie Micheletti said. “I thought all three courts did a good job handling the wind.”

Costa now 6-0 will play in their next game on Apr. 7 at 3rd Street Manhattan Beach against Bishop Montgomery High School. Micheletti said that they are working on their serve receive and serving tougher for next game.

“I am looking forward to continuing to improve our side out percentage next game,”Senior Alexia Inman said. “When we execute that effectively we are close to impossible to beat.”
