Mira Costa’s baseball team lost to Oaks Christian 4-5 in an away game on Monday. The game team’s top performance from sophomore second baseman Dylan Dennis.
Costa was down 5-0, but recovered in the sixth inning with three runs on a walk from Dennis. Still playing strong, the Mustangs scored again in the last inning. However they were just short of a win.
“We started to find ways to get on base in the 6th and 7th innings to pull it to a one run game but couldn’t capitalize in the end,” said Dennis. “That’s something we definitely want to improve.”
The Mustangs, now 8-5 overall, will play against Palos Verdes on Wednesday in an away game. The team is going to need to hit practice hard and get ready to play in next week’s game, according to Dennis.
“We were very flat today and when playing a team like Oaks Christian you can’t afford to be flat as a group,” said Dennis.
