Costa kept its great start to the season going by beating the Bishop Montgomery Knights, 2-1, on Dec. 7 at Redondo.
Junior Jess Chamberlain scored two goals from corner kicks, one of which was assisted by senior Augie Diaz.
“Jess Chamberlain played stopper and got both the goals and that was awesome. He came up for the corner kicks and executed both times,” said coach Gary Smith.
The Knights’ lone goal came in the second half, scored after kicking it out of junior goalie Teddy Sampson’s hands. The game ended 2-1. They played a game at home on Dec. 9 against Lawndale Charter but results were unavailable at the time of publication. The next game will take place on Dec. 14 at Culver City.
“We played to our strengths and utilized our free kicks. We don’t know much about Culver City, but we are hoping for good results,” Sampson said.
