Mira Costa’s boys varsity team defeated Dos Pueblos High School 14-4 on Friday in an away game. The team was lead by top performers junior Evan Fortier and sophomore Matthew Poh.
Costa dominated the game, winning most of their matches. Fortier beat the number one player 7-6 and 7-2 in a tie break and beat the number two player 6-0. Poh defeated his players as well.
“We were all top players today and each of us played consistent throughout our matches,” Poh said.
The Mustangs, 12-2 overall and 5-1 in Bay League, will next play Santa Barbara High School in Santa Barbara on Saturday. According to Poh, the team will do fine if it fights for every point.
“We are going to be changing the lineup for the next game because a couple of our top players will be missing the match today, so we need to step up and play well,” Poh said.
