The Mira Costa hockey team fell to the Manhattan Beach varsity 2003 club team, 2-1, at the Toyota Sports Center on Wednesday. Senior Chris Brown was the top performer of the game, scoring the Mustang’s only goal of the game.
In the first period against the Manhattan Beach varsity 2003 team, the Mustangs remained scoreless because they were unable to score on their power plays. To begin the second period, Brown had scored a goal to bring the Mustangs to a 1-1 tie.
“I think we will play very well and will be ready to play in our upcoming game if we can capitalize on our power play chances, get more pucks to the net and work more on our offense as well as defense,” freshman Lukas Balen said.
The Mustangs are now 1-4-1 overall and will next face off against the Wiseburn varsity club team at the Toyota Sports Center on Thursday. The team will have to play more physical and more defensive in their next game, freshman Noah Jamani says.
“I think our team will great and we hope to win our next game, but our defense and goaltending needs to improve in order to do so,” freshman Miles Hirsch said.
