Mira Costa’s girls tennis team fell to Palos Verdes High School 6-12 at home on Thursday. Top performance from doubles duo freshman Kacey Feng and sophomore Olga Nagy by going undefeated in their matches.
Feng and Nagy won two sets 7-5 and 6-0 in first position to shut out Palos Verdes. In doubles junior Bella Buchta and senior Elena Olsen won one set 7-5. Collectively Mira Costa won two singles sets and four doubles sets.
“Kacey and I worked on our partnership and it payed off today when we won all of our matches,” Nagy said. “The team overall gave their best today and had fun.”
The Mustangs, now 9-5 overall and 2-4 in Bay League, will go on to play Inglewood High School at Inglewood next Tuesday October 17th. Costa competed well against Palos Verdes, the #3 ranked team in Division 1, and should continue to work hard during practice said Feng.
“In the second set we were down 2-5 but we stayed consistent and came back to win 7-5,” Feng said. “The team did not win but we all played our best and had fun on Senior Day.”
