Costa’s boys water polo went 4-1, placing 5th in the Steven Pal Tournament at Esperanza High School on Friday, October 23. The Mustangs defeated Cerritos 11-3, Canyon Crest 13-5, Palos Verdes 6-5, Dana Hills 7-6 but lost to Laguna Beach 9-5.

Junior Hudson Carter helped the Mustangs with his stellar offensive play, scoring numerous goals every game. Helping with the many victories was their goalie senior, Paul Matt blocking many shots from the opponents.

“I wish we wouldn’t have let our lead get to our heads against Laguna beach,” Carter said. “If we would’ve kept playing the way we did in the first half, maybe we would of won.”

The Mustangs will compete at home against Los Osos on Tuesday, October 24. The team is expecting to play well together as a cohesive unit so they can bring home a win.

“Our whole season has been based upon building chemistry with one another to increase our performance in the pool,” Gleason said. “We need to focus on half court offense and counter attacks if we want to win.”
