The Mira Costa girls volleyball team fell to Redondo Union high school 3-0 on Tuesday, Oct. 24th at Redondo Union high school. The top performers of the match included senior Kelli Barry for her astonishing saves that improved Costa’s team morale and defense.
During the first set Costa was incapable to produce an offensive threat losing the first set 25-17 and second set 25-17. Costa came out quick in the third set with a 14-9 lead but were still unable to turn the match around losing the set 25-18.
“It all comes down to what we want to do on our side of the net,” said Coach Austin Rester. “They have some talented kids on their team and we had to serve as tough as possible.”
The Mustangs ended the regular season with an overall record of 9-4 and a Bay League record of 8-2. The Mustangs placed 2nd in Bay League and will continue onto California Interscholastic Federation playoff matches in November.
“I am really excited going into playoffs because throughout the season we’ve gotten so much better and are ready for whatever CIF throws at us,” said senior Karina Myszkowski.
