The Mira Costa boys soccer team defeated Inglewood high school 6-0, on Monday, Feb. 5 at Inglewood high school. The top performers of the match included sophomore keeper Drew Rohm for his shutout against the Sentinels.
The Mustangs came out firing in the first half breaking down Inglewood’s defense and scoring numerous goals. The ball was kept in Inglewood’s half for the majority of the game allowing Costa to score on Inglewood’s defense with big shots.
“Our strengths were playing the ball direct and getting goals early,” senior captain Keyan Torabi said. “We also locked down the defense from our backline.
The Mustangs are currently 14-4-2 overall and 7-2 in Bay League. The Mustangs will play their last Bay League match on Feb. 7 at Redondo Union high school against the rivaling Seahawks.
“My favorite thing about running the boys soccer program is just seeing the kids have fun and enjoy the sport while making some friends through that,” head coach Gary Smith said.
