The Mira Costa boys tennis team defeated Dos Pueblos High School 16-2, on Friday, Apr. 13. The top performers of the match included freshman singles player Julien Lilla and sophomore singles player Tim Dzhurinskiy for winning all of their sets.
Dzhurinskiy defeated is opponent 6-1, 6-0, and 6-0, while Lilla and senior Shant Samuelian swept their opponents which put the Mustangs in favorable position to win. On the doubles side, Costa’s #1 seeded team, including juniors Matthew Poh and Kyle Sillman, won 6-0, 6-0, and 6-0.
“I think there is fun to be had in both singles and doubles,” senior Evan Fortier said. “I think doubles is also fun because of the team aspect.”
The Mustangs are currently 13-1 overall and 5-1 in Bay League. The Mustangs next match will take place at home on Monday, Apr. 16 against Arcadia High School.
“My favorite part about being on the tennis team is how close we are to each other,” junior Ethan Han said.
