The Mira Costa boys volleyball team beat Aliso Niguel High School 3-0 on Tuesday, May 8 at home. The top performer of the match included senior outside Max Cajuste who had strong defensive plays and multiple blocks.
The Mustangs came out very strong with dominant kills and aces ending the first set 25-11. Costa continued to not let up with their aggressive swings and won the second set 25-12. The wolverines couldn’t close out a set against the Mustangs leading to a score of 25-22 in the concluding set.
“We had really good kills over their blocks but one thing that we can always improve on is our serve receive,” sophomore outside Jack Hopkins said.
The Mustangs’ overall record is now 10-3, Bay League 7-1. Their next opponent will be against the winner of West Ranch vs. Arnold Beckman High School on Thursday, May 10. The Mustangs are excited to move onto the next round of CIF playoffs and believe they can do great things according to junior outside Thomas Kretschmer.
“We served very well this match, we are going to take the momentum we got from this win and take it into the next game and the rest of the tournament,” Kretschmer said.
