Mira Costa boys baseball beat Palos Verdes 9-1 at home on Tuesday March 19, with a top performance by senior Chase Meidroth who had multiple hits leading to runs.
“ Our offense really came together this game and we put up a lot of runs and I think we had high, good energy throughout the game.” Storey said.
The first three innings started off slow for the Mustangs. Their offense performed well but were unable to capitalize and put many runs on the board. They finished the third inning with a tie score of 1-1.
“ Our energy was kind of low in the start of the game but we played pretty good and our pitching was strong.” said junior Tyler Antrobious.
During the fourth inning Costa’s offense came together and excelled. Multiple players had big hits leading to multiple runs and Palos Verdes was unable to catch a break. Due to runs by juniors Nathanial Miller and Kyle Karros the Mustangs ended the fourth inning with a score of 7-1, Costa in the lead.
“ I think we continued to progress and play well during the fourth inning.” Storey said.
The mustangs performance remained strong for the last three innings. They prevented Palos Verdes from adding anymore runs to their score and proceeded to get a few more runs themselves. Hits by seniors Chase Meidroth, Nick Carpino and Dylan Dennis allowed Costa to end the game with a final score of 9-2.
“ Once we got on a roll our offense and defense remained strong throughout the rest of the game.” Storey said.
Mira Costa is now 3-0 in Bay League and will once again face off Palos Verdes on Friday March 22 at Palos Verdes High school at 3:15 pm.
“ I think our team played very well together and I am looking forward to playing PV again on Friday.” Antrobious said.
