The newly released third season of “13 Reasons Why” continues to leave watchers stunned with passionate performances from actors as it realistically tells the stories of struggling teenagers.
The third season of “13 Reasons Why” makes viewers emotional with powerful acting from the entire cast. The show depicts realistic topics that high schoolers commonly deal with, such as bullying and mental illnesses. “13 Reasons Why” successfully dramatizes the hardships that teenagers often have to face.
The show is based off Jay Asher’s book “Thirteen Reasons Why,” which was published in 2007. “13 Reasons Why” first aired on Netflix on March 21, 2017. The first season tells the story of Hannah Baker, played by Katherine Langford, a teenage girl who was betrayed by her classmates and later sexually assaulted by Bryce Walker, portrayed by Justin Prentice. For this most recent season, the series creator, Brian Yorkey, transformed the show into a murder-mystery adventure.
This season is set eight months after Liberty High School’s Spring Fling, the last scene of season two. The new girl at Liberty High School, Ani Achola, played by Grace Saif, narrates the plot of the third season and learns her classmates’ histories as she tries to fit in at school. The main focus of this season, however, is that Bryce Walker has been murdered, and everyone is on edge as the culprit is searched for.
The third season of “13 Reasons Why” is arguably the best season of the series, as it delves into the world of crippling mental illnesses and the toll that bullying and rape has on an individual. Tyler Down, played by Devin Druid, delivers a powerful performance as he plays a survivor of sexual assault and has to cope with being bullied by his classmates. Through the use of powerful and raw acting from the cast, previous depictions are still realistic and allow today’s teenagers to relate to these characters and feel the agony and remorse that the characters experience.
