Girls Soccer brings home a win for their first game of the season

The Mira Costa girls soccer team defeated Santa Monica High School, 6-1 in their first game of the season on Wednesday, December 4. The top performers of the game were seniors, Chloe Hartley and Grace Watkins. 

In the first half of the game, the Mustangs had a slow start, while Santa Monica scored early on in the game. Costa began to pick up their momentum, scoring three goals in the first half, ending, 3-1. The Mustangs did not take their foot off the brake in the second half, scoring three more goals . They continued to dominate the possession until the end, finishing the game, 6-1. 

“The beginning of the game was difficult because we didn’t have a lot of time beforehand to get used to playing together, but after fifteen minutes we found our rhythm and started connecting,” Watkins said.

The Mustangs are scheduled to play their second game of the season against Lawndale High School at home on Friday, December 6. 

“For Friday’s game I think we will keep good possession of the ball and work hard as a team,” Ellie Weisenberg said.
