In the Wednesday game against the Culver City Centaurs, the Mustangs came out on top with a score of 4-0. The team’s defense held the Centaurs, thanks to senior pitcher Thatcher Hurd who threw a complete game shutout.
“I think we played a really good team game,” junior pitcher Addison Lee said. “Everybody definitely contributed to the win in today’s game.”
Throughout the game the Mustangs made many defensive plays, including multiple double plays, several catches and quick plays. Their offense was strong, as well, scoring a run in the first inning and three runs in the fifth.
“I think Thatcher pitched really well during the whole game,” Lee said. “Our hit- ters came in at clutch mo- ments, as well.”
The game’s top performer was Hurd, who pitched the entirety of the game and did not allow any runs. Hurd was throwing pitches in the 90 mile per hour range.
“I think I played well,” Hurd said. “I stayed really focused and tried to help our team win as much as I could. That was my top priority this game.”
The Mustangs’ next game is today at 3:15, where they will face the Centaurs again in Culver City. They are hoping for an outcome similar to Wednesday’s game, this being the second time they have faced the Centaurs this week.
“For the most part, we want to play the way we just did,” Lee said. “We’re facing a good pitcher and want to put the ball in play.” play and hit it hard.”
