Boy’s soccer shut out the Servite Friars and won 1-0 in their game on Thursday, June 3. The team started with an early lead as forward senior Thomas Southey scored in the first few minutes of the game.
“I think we played well especially with some of our key players injured,” Southey said. “It was a tough game but our midfield and back line played amazing.”
The defense never let the Friars score thanks to senior defender Caleb Wallis who was selected as player of the game.
After winning the semi final game, the Mustangs will move onto the championships against Birmingham High School. This will be the first time the two teams play each other.
“We’re ready for the championship,” senior Ben Moglia said. “We know we’re going to win that game and we want everyone to be there on Saturday at [1] o’clock.”
Students are encouraged to attend the 1p.m. game held at Birmingham High School to cheer on the Mustangs.
The Mustang’s record this season was 17-1-3. They have had an unprecedented season as they have won CIF and continue to win in regionals.
“This season has been absolutely historic!” Southey said. “Winning our first CIF final for Costa soccer was nothing short of amazing! Everyone has looked past us but time and time again we come out as the better team, proving everyone wrong and putting Costa on the map nationally.”
