On Tuesday, Costa girls tennis beat Palos Verdes High School, 11-7. The Mustangs won their sixth match of Bay League, making their record 5-1 in Bay League, and 17-3, overall.
“Maily and I played well together,” senior Syndey Vo said. “It was really exciting and fun to play Palos Verdes. They are always a competitive team. I am really glad that we were able to win all three of our matches and make a comeback from our last match. It was great to be able to help out the team during such a big match.”
Vo and her partner, sophomore Maily Huynh, were the top performers of this match. The duo went undefeated, its scores being 6-4, 6-4, and 6-0. According to Vo, the two always play well together and help lead the Mustangs to victory.
“Today’s match was super fun and intense,” Huynh said. “Everyone played really well, and came out with a win. Sydney and I played well and we swept all three matches.”
Vo and Huynh have played together throughout the season. According to Hunyh, they both have the drive to win every match, and both crave the winning feeling. They also have become close friends.
“Sydney [and I] have great chemistry and get along very well,” Hunyh said. “Throughout the season, we got to know each other better and learned what things we do best together.”
Bay League has one more match left in the season against Redondo Union, taking place at the Redondo Union courts. Individual tournaments for Bay League are taking place on Oct. 27 for singles and Oct. 28 for doubles.
“Bay League as a whole went really well,” Vo said. “I think our team [Sydney Vo and Maily Hunyh] played other competitors well.”
