Costa boys water polo ended up with three wins and one loss in the annual S&R cup in Orange County on Oct. 1 and 2.

The Mustangs finished in 5th place, beating Jesuit, Corona Del mar, and Long Beach Wilson and losing to De La Salle. This was the second tournament of the season.

“We played some great teams and our offense did really well,” senior Cole Cristensen said. “The hard practices were shown in the outcome when we placed 5th out of 16 teams. We still have a couple of things to work on, but overall it was a good tournament to see our improvements.”

According to senior goalie Bernardo Herzer, the team is planning to continue to practice hard for its upcoming game on Oct. 5 against Culver City.

“For our next game against Culver City, we will continue our good communication skills and our early defense,” Herzer said. “We will continue to work hard in the next week’s matches against Culver City and Peninsula.”
