In early February, a second incident of graffiti was found in a campus bathroom, including political and derogatory messages.
The bathroom was immediately closed so that graffiti removal and repair could be completed. Costa security documented the incident, and it was also reported to the Manhattan Beach Police Department (MBPD). Costa has a zero tolerance policy for hate speech, and consequences include suspension, expulsion, referral to MBPD, and juvenile interventions.
“I want students to know that these hateful statements in any form are hurtful and leave a lasting impact on others,” said Principal Dr. Karina Gerger.
