Comedy Sportz won a match against ASB seniors on March 4 with a score of 36-35.
The Comedy Sportz team’s lineup for the first half of the match was senior Dylan Kircher; sophomores Siena Frederick and Devan Malik; and senior captain Gabe Orroth. ASB’s team included senior captain Kimya Torabi and seniors Jack Dalton, Dalia Kaldawi, and Billy Mattis.
“I enjoyed the match a lot because it was students vs. students, which made it more fun and competitive,” sophomore Alana Frank said.
The two teams started off with the game “Expert Challenge,’’ which ASB won to take a five-point lead. They then chose the game “Interrogation,” followed by Comedy Sportz’s game of “Tag Team Monologue.” Comedy Sportz won that round, tying the game 5-5. They then chose the game “Good Bad Worst,” while ASB chose the “Time Store Novel.” Comedy Sportz ended the first half with a lead after the closing game “Garth.”
“I was super nervous at first because I wanted to do well, but once I got on stage, I felt so relaxed,” said Frederick. “The whole environment felt super welcoming, and it was overall a really fun experience for me.”
The second half of the match included Comedy Sportz captain senior Clay Gerrans, junior Ariel Dupin, sophomore Chris Halkias, and senior Annie Iantuono. The ASB team included seniors Riley Hansen, Kayle Marsh, Sydney Thatch, and senior captain Jensen Ring.
“I enjoyed the match because a lot of my friends were in it, making it more meaningful for me to watch,” said sophomore Arianna Vogel. “My favorite game was the dancing one [“What You Got”] because Annie killed it.”
The game “What You Got” opened for the second half of the match. The following rounds included Comedy Sportz’s choices, “New Choice” and “Four Square,” and ASB’s choices of “Year Book” and “Blind Line.” After the final game, “Hey Waiter,” Comedy Sportz won the match with a score of 36-35.
“I think my favorite game had to be either the Comedy Sportz ‘Tag Team Monologue’ or ASB’s ‘Blind Line,’” Frank said. “These games were the most fun to watch, and the whole audience was laughing and interacting, which made it even better.”
