Associated Student Body (ASB) members came to school on April 15 to participate in the PTSA bi-annual campus beautification day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Each member of ASB who participated spent its day removing trash and organizing the school. According to senior commissioner of campus sustainability Sam Gin, it is very important for ASB to hold this event to keep the campus clean.
“Our custodians and janitors do so much for us, and they are very underappreciated,” Gin said. “This is our way to come together as ASB and make the campus better for everyone and also to show appreciation to the custodians.”
Around 50 Costa students came and were broken into different groups to clean different areas on campus. According to junior Vice President Sophia Delino, some groups cleaned the area around the cafeteria, Mustang Mall, classrooms and the field area.
“Campus beautification is definitely an underrated event that ASB participates in,” Delino said. “It’s important that ASB does events like this to keep us close as a campus organization, and it was fun doing community service with some of my close friends.”
Other students outside ASB were encouraged to come and help pick up trash on campus. For example, students from Link Crew came as well to beautify the campus. According to Gin, ASB needed all the help it could get as it takes a lot of people to clean Costa’s huge campus.
“Beautification day was really fun and also very rewarding,” junior Link Leader Josie McCalla said. “It was cool to work together with my peers to achieve a common goal.”
