Costa held its annual prom, themed “To Infinity and Beyond,” on June 3 from 7 to 11 p.m. at the
Endeavour Pavilion at the California Science Center.
Tickets were sold from $190-240 for one couple ticket and $95-130 for one single ticket. Prices
fluctuated based on if tickets were purchased in advance and if students had an ASB marker.
Only juniors and seniors were allowed to buy a ticket, but they had the opportunity to purchase
tickets for underclassmen and off-campus guests as their dates.
“I feel like there was a lot to do, and the tickets to the Space museum are around the same
pricing, so I think the price was reasonable,” said junior Kate Trudgen. “For people that don’t
have a lot of money but want to join the experience, there should have been some sort of
discount worked out.”
Prom featured a large room for dancing and food, with the dance floor positioned under a space
shuttle. The event also offered caricatures, a strolling magician, karaoke, flight simulator, photo
booths and casino games. There were several museum rooms to browse through, including the
desert and marine room.
“My favorite part was looking at all the space crafts around the museum because I like
aerospace engineering,” said junior Caden Coons. “I really liked the venue; it was a great place
to hold prom.”
Prom court nominees were selected by votes from seniors, and the winners were selected by
students at prom. Prom court included seniors Luke Schauwecker, Madison Calder, Jack
Searer, Lizzy Fleming, Brett Becker, Lucy Langlois, Will Castillo, Reece Riley, Cooper Joseph,
Roxy Fusco, Tucker Gauss and Grace Pfaff. The winners were Gauss and Fusco.
“Considering the people I was up against, I wasn’t sure I had a chance, so I’m sure you can
imagine the shock when my name was called,” said Fusco. “Everyone on prom court is
amazing; they’re all royalty and deserve a crown. I’m super honored that I got to stand up there
with such a great group of people.”
Preceding the event, ASB hosted a prom-posal competition. The prize for the competition was
the reimbursement of both winners’ tickets. The winners were juniors Kyle Farrell and Sara
Sullivan.
“Since I’m the news anchor for the Mustang Morning News, I decided to make a fake show and
used the ‘Costa Quiz’ to ask,” said Farrell. “I was trying to think of a fun and unique way to ask,
and then I remembered I am a part of the Mustang Morning news.”
The ASB junior class officers, including class president Margot Powell, class vice president
Sophia Delino and class treasurer Mira Kaldawi, helped plan the event alongside activities
director Lisa Claypoole.
“It was super fun but also super stressful,” said Powell. “So many decisions between picking the
napkins to the lighting to the food to the venue. I had a lot of help which made it better though. It
was such a great learning opportunity.”
