Flag football beats Penninsula, loses to Redondo

 Underneath the vibrant Friday night lights, the Mira Costa varsity girls flag football team battled Peninsula High School in an atmosphere abuzz with excitement. In a close showdown, Mira Costa emerged victorious with a final score of 19-12. Emmy Terry and Sophie Guitron led the Mustangs, both showcasing their skills and determination. 

“The first game was really competitive. It was really cool to have all the GBCS girls there to support us on senior night,” Lola said.    

Terry constantly dashed through Peninsula High School’s defense with speed and footwork, leaving defenders scrambling. She was able to read  the field and make split-second decisions that consistently gained yards, showcasing her field vision and quick reflexes.

 

 On the other hand, Sophie Guitron stood strong, using her power and determination to gain yards  her way through the opposition. Her runs were all pure athleticism, pulling flags  and pushing forward, showcasing resilience. Every stride she took was a testament to her grit and determination, firing up her teammates and earning the cheers and admiration of the crowd. Together, these standout players epitomized teamwork and resilience.

 “Even though the second game was difficult, we held Redondo in the second half and had a really strong defense,” said Lola

 

In the girls flag football game against Redondo,  they lost  13-0. Mira Costa was unable to penetrate Redondo High’s defense and get the ball into the end zone.
