Costa boys lacrosse defeated Palos Verdes on Wednesday at home. Starting off strong Costa held the Sea Kings scoreless the entire first half, and scored three goals.
“We are capitalizing on their mistakes and keeping the game in our control,” Junior attack Nick Marsh said. “We need to convert a little more on offense going into the second half but our defense is playing like one unit.”
Starting the second half, Costa was able to score three quick goals, which were answered back by PV quickly. Costa’s early lead was too much for the Sea Kings to overcome. The final score of the game was 8-4, cementing Costa’s 2nd straight undefeated Bay League title.
“It was a hard-fought game and with good passing were were able to run the clock out. PV was able to build some momentum in the third quarter,” Junior attack Jacob Yakatan said. “We were able to answer back quickly and shut them down which was why we got the win.”
Heading into the postseason, the team has an overall record of 12-7. Costa’s next game will be at home with their opponent to be determined tomorrow.
“I am proud of the way we played and am excited for the future,” Junior long stick midfielder Gavin Fix said. “Even though we don’t know who we will play first, we have been preparing all year for this moment and we will be ready. “
