The Mira Costa boys and girls track teams visited Peninsula High School on April 12. The Panthers posed quite a threat for the Mustangs, leaving girls varsity the only division to win, 88-47. The boys lost 78-58 in this second Bay League competition.

Though the boys lost, several Mustangs sought the victory. Senior Brett Douville took home the 800 race and was a part of the winning of the 4X4 boys relay race along with junior Dylan Gates. Junior Adam Perez continued his mid season success by winning the mile race and finishing second in the 3200. Junior Kyle Hubbard was the winner of the hurdle events.

On the girls side, the distance unit scored several points. Junior Kelli Sugimoto won the 1600 and the 800 while junior Vivien Cherrette finished second behind her in both. In the 3200, the Mustangs swept with first, second and third. For the sprints, junior Ashlee Dotson won both the 200 and the 400 to aid the Mustangs. In the 4x400m relay, the Mustangs punctuated the division win with a victory.

On April 16, the Mustangs will compete in the South Bay Championships, hosted at West Torrance.
