Decemberists stumble in latest release

January 30, 2015 La Vista 0

The Decemberists form an ironic purgatory throughout their new album, “What A Terrible World, What A Beautiful World.” The band’s signature whimsical, folksy attitude is still apparent in the latest release, yet it lacks the depth shown in its previous work. “What A Terrible World, What A Beautiful World” exhibits a safe middle ground for the Decemberists.

Wu-Tang Clan reunites, underwhelms

September 19, 2014 La Vista 0

With a surprising, yet memorable sound, The Kooks’ new album, “Listen,” explores a unique dimension of British pop-rock rarely seen in modern music. While risky to try something new in the music industry, The Kooks successfully uses its mix of modern sound and classic style. The band has taken on a new musical challenge but manages to preserve its old-school mentality, making “Listen” a phenomenal album. […]

“Mind Over Matter” tour thoroughly entertains

February 28, 2014 La Vista 0

The band may be young, but its music surely will not be getting old any time soon. With a fresh tour to complement its second album, the alternative juggernaut Young the Giant has been gaining momentum, and deservedly so, from its live presence in the “Mind Over Matter” tour. […]
