Let them eat cake. These immortal words of Marie Antoinette, the queen of revolutionary France, exemplify the inability for those in charge to recognize the plight of those “below” them. This is also true of the President of Egypt, Hosni Mubarak, who has ruled under emergency law for 30 years, suspending civil liberties and sowing the seeds for his own demise by creating democratic agitation.
