MIRA COSTA 3:03pm- Principal Ben Dale informed Mira Costa teachers, staff and parents at 10:05 am that a student was arrested yesterday afternoon by the Manhattan Beach Police Department for allegedly threatening a teacher and six other students as well as possessing illegal drugs.
According to an email Dale sent to Mira Costa teachers and staff at 2:00 pm, the student is “suspended pending a recommendation for expulsion” which as Dale described was the maximum consequence allowed under California Education Code.
“My most solemn responsibility is to ensure a safe learning environment for all students and staff,” Dale said in the email. “It is a daunting task, and therefore requires a team effort. In this case the cooperation of students, staff, community, district officials, and MBPD allowed us to avoid potential trouble.”
