After being framed by Lex Luther, society starts to see Superman as a false god. Superman must clear his name while battling Batman, stopping Lex Luther, and keeping the ones he loves safe from harm.
“Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” directed by Zack Snyder, puts two iconic crime-fighting superheroes in a battle against each other. The film has a intricate storyline with various plot twists, great acting, and outstanding special affects. However, the film as a whole feels a little dragged out.
After turning lots of the world against Superman, Lex Luther plans to make Superman loose his powers by weakening his Krypton cells. Batman thinks Superman is threat and wants to kill Superman. Superman is inclined to fight Batman because Lex Luther holds his family hostage.
The film includes profound themes of the importance of family and Man vs. God. Lex Luther uses Superman’s family in order to turn him against Batman. Although, Superman and Batman battle each other, they have the similar goals and a common enemy linking them together, making the ancient rivalry very interesting.
The movie takes place in many diffrent settings including Gotham City and other classic places seen in the comics. It is interesting to see both places from the other Batman and Superman movies incorporated in one big film.
The story was definitely interesting, but way too dragged on. At parts it was even confusing and hard to follow. It kept feeling like the movie should’ve ended, but it kept going adding new characters and conflicts at the end of the film.
In order to understand and enjoy the film you must be paying attention the whole time. There are small scenes that are very important to the plot which are easy to miss. Sometimes, it was even hard to understand where and what was going on in a certain scene.
It is not necessary to watch the other Batman and Superman films before this one. However, it is highly recommended because it would be easier to follow the plot and intricate series of events.
All of the costumes, special affects, and sets were truly on a new level. The action scenes were thrilling and never seemed to disappoint with well choreographed fighting and interesting chases. The car chase in the Bat mobile and fighting above the atmosphere both added something exciting to the film.
The casting for the film was very accurate and well chosen. The best acting by far was Jesse Eisenberg, who played Lex Luther perfectly, portraying him as a creepy, awkward, and meaning antagonist for the the film.
Also, Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill were exactly how Batman and Superman should look and act. They were spot on and made the film more enjoyable. Along with them, Amy Adams, reprised her role as Lois Lane, who portrayed herself as a strong brave woman in the film.
The acting and special affects were definitely the strongest parts of the film. Although the story is dragged on too long, the plot twists make the storyline interesting with cameos from other well-known DC comic characters, that set the movie up for a sequel.
The overall movie did well because the strong casting/acting, the amazing special effects, and the iconic characters including Batman, Superman, Lex Luther, and Lois Lane all brought together in one very well made film.
“Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” is rated PG13 and now available in theaters nationwide.
