Costa’s Marching Band placed sixth out of 12 schools at Championships yesterday at Warren High School, making it the last performance of the season.

William S. Hart High School placed first, West Ranch High School placed second and Warren High School placed third. According to flute soloist Elisse Friedman, the band earned one place higher, as well as a higher score compared to Championships last year.

“The performance went well,” Drum Major Adrian Yu said. “It was more than just technical excellence, we played with emotion and unity, and I could really see the love between each and every one of our musicians.”

Throughout the last few weeks, Marching Band redefined several visuals and added new ones to prepare for Championships, Friedman said. In addition, the band was able to get two different outside adjudicators to critique their performance during rehearsals. One of the adjudicators was Michael Pote, a band director from Carmel High School in Indiana, who gave Marching Band advice for this competition.

“I think the season ended in a good way,” Friedman said. “I can confidently say that the other members and I finished the season with no regrets. As a senior, it was a super emotional night for me, but I wouldn’t have traded that night for the world.”
