Franz wrote down what the SEW Committee had accomplished this year. Mira Costa Principal Ben Dale is happy to see how much initiative the SEW Committee has taken compared to other Challenge Success schools. According to Franz, Costa was almost 3 times more productive. The Committee splits into breakout groups to try and better define their goals and purpose. One group discussed the pressing statistics of the Challenge Success Survey, the other discussed the emotional tole of school. Members of the survey review team vote on which of the factors in the report have the most impact. They decided upon lack of sleep, course load, and academic engagement. Franz finishes the meeting by writing an outline of the overall goals of the Committee as to assist them in creating a definition for what they do. This served as food for thought as the Committee will not meet again until September.
