‘The Grinch’ gives a modern take on the holiday classic

The most recent rendition of the classic Christmas story, “The Grinch,” is an enjoyable movie experience for all ages and warms viewers’ hearts with its message about the true meaning of the holiday season.

“The Grinch” presents a charming story with witty jokes throughout the movie. The animated film retells the timeless Dr. Seuss story and manages to entertain audiences of all ages.

Yarrow Cheney and Scott Moiser directed the movie, and Pharell Williams narrates it. Benedict Cumberbatch voices the Grinch and Cameron Seely voices Cindy-Lou, while Rashida Jones plays  Donna Who.

“The Grinch” recounts the classic Christmas tale of the Grinch and his ploy to ruin Christmas for the citizens of Whoville. Meanwhile, Cindy-Lou Who is determined to meet Santa Claus and receive all of her Christmas presents.

The story is an earnest, repurposed version of the original story and contains a delightful message that having kindness in one’s heart is better than being bitter. The script is predictable, but what the film lacks in originality, it makes up for with sincere messages. It utilizes its familiar ending from past movies about the Grinch and charms viewers with its witty jokes and admirable characters.

The movie’s superb animation is visually pleasing and colorfully sells the holiday spirit of Christmas with its attention to detail. The playful depictions of the classic characters leave viewers smiling and features in the animations add the perfect touch.

Characters are brought to life through the actors’ animated voices, which add to the delightful atmosphere of the film. Jones perfectly voices the role of a caring mother and charms the audience with her family. Cumberbatch makes the most of the script and delivers jokes that perfectly fit in with the plot.

“The Grinch” is rated PG and is available in theaters nationwide.
