The Mustangs played their second match of the season on Wednesday, December 4th against Edison. The boys fell short, ending in a 2-1 loss.
“We knew they were a good team. Our strategy was to keep the ball in their half and pass the ball,” said senior, James Riker. “Going into the second half we wanted to play more defensively.”
From the start of the match, senior goalkeeper Jared Tang navigating the team from the back, keeping the defensive line strong. Senior Micheal Crisera go the lone goal for Costa in the first half. In the second half, the team was unable to put away any chances. The game finished 2-1 Edison.
“We knew going into it that Edison was a big CIF level team,” Tang said. “We knew that we would have to perform at our best in order to beat them.”
The team will play against Millikan High School at Waller Stadium for their first home game of the season on Thursday, December 5th.
“After the loss to Edison we knew that we would have to perform our best going forward and play better as a team instead of as individuals,” Tang said.
