Mira Costa boys played Millikan on Thursday, December 5th. They fell short in the end, losing 2-1.
“We needed to score and put away our chances in order to win,” senior, James Riker said.
The Mustangs came out slowly in the first half, going down a goal. Going into the second half, Costa continued to press high on their opponents. In the first ten minutes, senior Anthony Lopez scored, making the score tied, 1-1. As the team lost the ball at Millikan scored in the last thirteen minutes of the game, ending in a 2-1.
“Going into our game against Millikan we knew that they were the bigger more physical team,” Jared Tang said, “We were just hoping to come out with a win. going into the future, we are focused on building ourselves as a team. We need to focus on playing as a team and learning how to compete at a high level for a full game instead of just for a half.”
The Mustangs are scheduled to play their fourth game of the season at home against Santa Monica on Tuesday, December 10th.
“I feel that we have a lot to work on as a team as it is still very early in the season,” senior Alex Rieg said. “We are going to continue to work on our team chemistry as we all come from different teams but the more we play with each other the better we get so I’m excited for the season to come.”
