On March 25, Costa boys tennis traveled to Newport Beach to participate in their first ever All American Tournament. \

“Being able to participate in the tournament was amazing,” senior Jensen Ring said. “I was so excited to be able to play in the tournament in my last year of high school and can’t wait for the players and future players on the team to be able to experience it as well.”

Senior singles player Kelly Giese won the All American Award which is given to the top 12 players in the tournament overall. According to Giese, he is very excited to receive this award, especially after this being his first year participating.

“I feel truly honored to get this award and place in the top 12,” senior Kelly Giese said. “Going into the tournament I was a little nervous since it was the first time Costa has been invited to participate. I felt like I had to prove myself and that the tennis team belonged to be a part of the tournament going into future years.”

The Mustangs’ next match will take place on April 12 at Culver City High School, facing off against them for a second time. The Mustangs’ won 12-6 in their first bay league win against Culver on March 14.

“The team is excited to play against Culver again, and we hope to come out on top,” junior Nick Wong said. “Playing against them the first time was very fun and helped our team get excited for the rest of Bay League.”
