Costa lost, 1-0, in a game to West Torrance on March 19. The score remained 0-0 for the first three innings of the game with help from senior pitcher Aidan Aguilar, who didn’t allow the Warriors to score any runs.
“The game really highlighted the things we need to improve upon for the season ahead of us,” said junior first baseman Ben Gneiser. “I think that everyone is more determined now to go out and perform.”
The game’s top performer was senior catcher Nick Bacura, who had two base hits and threw out a runner at second base.
“I think the team pitched really well,” Bacura said. “We also had great energy.”
The Mustangs (0-1) will play West again on Wednesday. According to Gneiser, the team will focus on their offense.
“The biggest factor that led to our loss was our offensive ability,” Gneiser said. “We are a good team, and as the season progresses, our hard work is definitely going to be seen on the field.”
