The Mira Costa wrestling team hit the road on Jan. 12 to take on West Torrance High School. The Mustangs looked for their second straight winning performance but were unable to come away from the match with a win.

Seniors Tyler Emery and Ian Goodbody won the only two matches of the day for the Mustangs in the 172 and 180-pound weight classes, respectively.

The rest of the team struggled against their various opponents, and the Mustangs were unable to win any other matches against West.

“My hard work that I put into practice every day is paying off,” Emery said. “If I continue to keep working hard and giving it my all, more success will hopefully follow.”

Junior Will Goodwin was also injured during his match and was taken to the hospital after being unable to finish his match with a severe sprain in his ankle.

The Mustangs hosted their first home match of the year in Fisher Gym against Peninsula High School yesterday, but due to time of publication, the statistics and scores were unavailable.
