The Mira Costa wrestling team hit the road and traveled to San Fernando High School on January 21 to compete in a tournament. The Mustang’s struggled with very difficult competition.
Junior Cory Sanicky placed 4th as a heavyweight and beat the number two seed in the whole tournament. Senior Tyler Emery finished 2-1 in his respected weight class matches before having to leave with a foot injury.
“This was a very hard tournament,” Emery said. “I hurt myself and couldn’t continue to wrestle for third place. That was a bummer.”
Senior Alex Rosen traveled independently to compete in an all girls tournament in Anaheim where she placed second overall.
The Mustang’s will travel to Redondo Union High School on January 26 for Bay League play.
