The Mira Costa girls softball team played their second double-header of the year in the Cypress Tournament at Cypress Field on Saturday March 3 against Fountain Valley and Cypress. The Mustangs lost both games by scores of 4-2 and 8-1, respectively, dropping their record to an even 2-2. With these losses the girls placed fourth overall in the Cypress Tournament.
In the first game against Fountain Valley, Costa struck out seven times against two Fountain Valley pitchers and made three errors during the game, which allowed all four Fountain Valley runs to score. During the second game, Mira Costa’s defense was lacking and four errors caused eight runs to score for Cypress.
The girls next play on March 15 in the Cypress Tournament as they continue on in the tournament.
