Select Mira Costa track and field athletes traveled to Arcadia High School for the Arcadia Invitational, which took place on April 6 and 7. The Mustangs excelled in the meet, with senior Kyle Hubbard standing out after tying a Costa record in the 300-meter hurdles.
Hubbard placed first in his section for the 300-meter hurdles and tied the Costa school record of 38.53 seconds, making him ranked 7th in the state. Hubbard and seniors Corbin Gates, Ramsey Zein and Tommy Lastrape placed first together with a time of 1:04.84 in the men’s shuttle hurdles after finishing in second with the first place team being disqualified. The shuttle hurdlers were able to pull off the win despite having to avoid a collision with another athlete who fell in the Costa lane.
The Mustangs will compete in a home meet versus Leuzinger and Peninsula on April 12.
