Costa girls varsity volleyball beats West Torrance on Senior Night

The Mira Costa girls volleyball team hosted West Torrance High School on Senior Night, Tuesday Oct. 23. With all nine seniors starting the match, Costa defeated West in a three-game sweep. The team’s record improves to 15-8 overall.

Costa dominated defensively in the first game, led by senior Corie Bain, who had 11 digs, and senior Lexi Millington close behind with nine digs. The Mustangs ended up easily taking the first game with a score of 25-11.

“It was really fun watching the seniors playing their best and having a great time,” junior Sammy Furland said. “Everyone was connecting on court and playing extremely well.”

In the second match, senior Grayce Campbell had a total of ten kills with the help of Bain, who had 36 assists. Costa won the second game 25-17 and quickly took the third-game 25-16.

“It was a really great and successful Senior Night,” coach Lisa Arce-Zimmerman said. “I’m glad I was able to play all nine seniors throughout the match.”

Costa’s next match will be against Peninsula High School on Thursday Oct. 25.
