The Mira Costa varsity girls tennis team had a strong win in its match in the first round of CIF. The team won 17-1 against Palm Springs High School in Palm Springs on Oct. 31.
Sophomore Brooke Swallow won all three of her sets with scores of 6-2, 6-1 and 6-0. Junior Paula Cenusa also won her two sets 6-4 and 6-1. Doubles partners seniors Carly and Hanna McGuire won all of their three sets 6-0. Junior Sidney Ascher and senior Sulibeth Ortiz-Torres won 6-0 and 6-1 for their sets.
“It was a great way to start CIF,” Cenusa said. “Hopefully we can keep this up against Thousand Oaks as they are a very good team.”
The team will play at the Manhattan Country Club on Friday, Nov. 2 in their second round of CIF against Thousand Oaks High School.
