The Mira Costa girls varsity basketball team has been playing in a preseason, non-league tournament this week. The girls fell short in their first game on Nov. 26 against Long Beach Poly, losing 79-34.
The Mustangs had a strong start, but were not able to regain the lead. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 20-9. Senior Camryn Chan was the scoring leader with eight points, and Sophomore Haley Tojo scored five points for Costa.
“I feel our team improves after each practice and game we play,” Tojo said. “This was just one game and I know we are going to have a great season.”
The team will travel tomorrow and play against Keppel in their second game in this tournament.
