The Mira Costa girls basketball team played South Torrance High School on Nov. 28 as part of the week-long Inglewood tournament. The Mustangs beat the Spartans 44-34 for their first win of the season.
By the end of the third quarter, the score was 38-27 with Costa in the lead. The leading scorer was sophomore Haley Tojo with thirteen points. Senior Camryn Chan was also a top scorer, scoring eleven points, followed by senior Rachel Humphrey who scored six points for the Mustangs.
“I am really proud of our team’s win,” Humphrey said. “We had to face very aggressive teams our first two games of tournament so to come back with a win now is great motivation.”
The girls will travel to St. Bernards High School on Thursday, Nov. 29 to play against Long Beach Wilson in the tournament’s semi finals for consolation.
