The Mira Costa girls varsity water polo team lost on Monday, Jan. 7 to Bay League opponent Palos Verdes, with a score of 9-8.
Six of the eight goals were scored by sophomore Kelly Giery and junior Jordan Raney. Giery scored a goal in the last quarter to tie the game at 7 to send the two teams into overtime. The teams went into double overtime, but the Sea Kings came out victorious.
“It was a really close game,” sophomore Isabella Magno said. “Even though we lost, we played really well. Hopefully the loss will not carry into our next match.”
The Mustangs’ next game is on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at home against Warren High School.
