The Mira Costa boys basketball team competed in the Torrey Pines tournament at La Jolla High School from Wednesday Dec. 26 through Saturday Dec. 29. The Mustangs lost 65-61 to Chino Hills High School on Dec. 26 and 69-68 to Douglas High School on Dec. 27. They defeated Austin High School 75-53 on Dec. 28 and Carson High School 50-27 on Dec. 29. The team finished with a tournament record of 2-2.
Junior Justin Strings was a consistent scorer for the Mustangs, scoring 16 points in both the games on Dec. 26 and Dec. 28. Seniors Cole Feaster and Oliver Mausner also helped Costa, with Feaster scoring 26 points in the game against Douglas and Mausner scoring 14 points on Dec. 28.
“We had a rough start but really pulled through for our last two games,” sophomore Gavin Reegan said.
The Mustangs’ next game is Tuesday, Jan. 6 away against West Torrance High School.
