On Friday Jan. 18, the Mira Costa girls varsity soccer team defeated Peninsula, 1-0.
The goal was scored by sophomore Mckenna Doyle, who headed a ball that senior Alyssa Lloja crossed over to her.
“We are the first team to beat Peninsula which now places us in first place for Bay League,” senior Kirby Benson said.
Their next match will be Tuesday Jan. 22 at 3 p.m. against Palos Verdes High School.
