The Mira Costa boys water polo team looked to improve upon last year’s impressive CIF finals appearance in their first game against Santa Barbara. The first game started to realize that goal.
The Mustangs started slowly and finished strong, beating Santa Barbara 10-6.
“We had a good first game of the season; we were pretty rusty and made some mistakes, but that’s what’s to be expected this early in the season. Nothing a couple matches won’t fix,” said coach Jon Reichardt.
Senior leaders Jake Miller and Dana Tuttle Mustang carried the team to victory. Miller led the way for the Mustangs with four of the ten goals, and Tuttle blocked several goals as well, contributing to the Mustang victory.
The Mustangs (1-0) play Agoura at home on Tuesday, Sept. 14.
