The Mira Costa softball team continued in the Katella tournament on March 30. The Mustangs defeated the host, Godinez High School, 17-0 in their first game of the day. The girls followed with a 9-6 loss against Royal High School. Costa finished second overall in this non-league tournament.
The Mustangs scored two runs during the first inning to start the game off against Godinez. Senior center fielder Taylor Glover lead the team in the first game with three runs and three runs batted in. In the next game against Royal, Glover went 2-3 and hit a double. Sophomore second baseman Brittany Werre scored one run and had two runs batted in throughout the game.
“It was tough to lose the last game which made us fall into second place when we were so close to winning it all,” Glover said. “We all played hard to fight back in the second game but we just couldn’t hold them in the end.”
The girls next played away against Temple City High School on April 6.
